My name is Alanna McRae. I am a young professional with +5 years working in the financial industry in various roles including sales, communications and marketing. For the past 2 years, I've also chaired the Ontario chapter of my organizations Young Professional Association, whose mission is to attract, retain and develop young talent.
I became involved in the ccs about a year ago when I organized a karaoke fundraiser in honour of my aunt, who was undergoing treatment at the time (now she is recovering!) and my boyfriends dad, who passed away 2 years ago. The guidance and support I received from the staff when coordinating this event was incredible and made me very excited to continue being involved with the CCS. Since then, I've gotten my workplace involved and sold daffodils for daffodil monte.
When I learned that the Canadian Cancer Society was establishing a Young Professionals Association, I was immediately interested. Not only does is it centred around another theme very close to my heart, cancer - something that touches every one of us either directly or indirectly each and every day, it also creates development and networking opportunities for young professionals (and new ideas!).
This year, I plan to build on my momentum in 2016 and look forward to collaborating with like-minded individuals to work towards the eradication of cancer in our lifetime.
The money raised from these events helps fund leading-edge cancer research that is improving cancer treatments, preventing cancer and saving lives; provide reliable and up-to-date information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment; offer vital community-based support services for people living with cancer and their families; and advocate for healthy public policies.
Please pledge me and help me reach my fundraising goal! Every pledge takes us one step further in the fight against cancer. Online pledging is secure and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing administrative costs.
Thanks for your support!
