Welcome to My Personal Page
I am fundraising for the Canadian Cancer Society as part of the 2019 Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend. For the third year in a row, I am a "Pace Bunny" for Ottawa Race Weekend. I'm pacing the Half Marathon again this year (I paced the full marathon in 2017 and the half last year). Like the last couple years, I'm hoping to use my Bunny star power to do a little good. As a result, I'm fundraising for the Canadian Cancer Society, an organization very near and dear to my heart. I use to fundraise annually for the Canadian Cancer Society via the Father's Day Run but when that race was cancelled in 2015, I stopped fundraising for a couple years. I started again as a Pace Bunny in 2017 and raised close to $1000 in both 2017 and 2018.
We all have personal connections to cancer and I am no different. In 2002, my Papa passed away from prostate cancer. After my Papa passed away, my dad requested that he start getting regular PSA testing, which had been subject to some controversy. It was because of this process that my Dad’s cancer was detected early in September 2011 and to me there is nothing controversial about that. Many years later and cancer is still a part of my dad's life. Although I am grateful that I can report he is currently healthy and happy, he will likely live with prostate cancer for the rest of his life. For these reasons and many more, my goal is to have a tiny part in finding a cure by raising money for this reputable organization. I’m running for my Dad and his Dad and for everyone affected by cancer.
My goal is to raise over $1000 and I would be grateful if you want to help. However, I know there are endless good causes and it's impossible to support them all so no worries at all if a donation is not possible this year! I appreciate your support from past years and for reading this.
