Last season, Huskie athletes
began the initiative Play For A Cure in hopes of raising money for cancer
research. Together $18,674 was donated. The fundraising initiative will
continue in the 2009-10 season with the newly added goal of raising awareness through
education about cancer.
Play
For A Cure will once again begin with the football head shave. The
Huskies
will shave their heads for cancer after their season is over, if fans,
friends
and supporters help them raise $5,000 — $1,000 more than last year.
Other teams will also participate hosting cancer awareness nights at
home games.
Donations to the cause can be made at any Huskie home game at the main
gate, or at PAC main office (PAC 222) to Nicole Betker during regular business
hours (
8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.), by phone at 306-966-1024 or, here, online.
Help Huskie Athletics make cancer history.
Huskie
Athletics is participating in a community-based fundraising event to
support the mission of the Canadian Cancer Society. The money raised
from this event helps the Society fund leading-edge cancer research,
advocate for healthy public policies, offer vital community-based
support services for people living with cancer and their families, and
provide reliable and up-to-date information on cancer, risk reduction
and treatment.
Please pledge Huskie Athletics and help us reach our fundraising goal.
Every
pledge takes us one step further in the fight against cancer. Online
pledging is secure and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by
reducing administrative costs.
